The CHALLENGE
We propose a challenge to finance and implement slum improvement to make more sustainable living available to the slum population. The aim is to improve people’s living conditions in terms of access to infrastructure, improved housing, living comfort, positive impact on the community and economic opportunities for the future.

The ultimate goal of the challenge is to bring hope for a better future to people living in slums. We are committed to initiating projects that will improve people’s living conditions through the concept of “help for self help”. We encourage challenge participants to think about measures for improving slums regarding the infrastructure that can be found there, but also regarding the economic opportunities that the slum environment offers to its inhabitants. The people need to be involved in the planning and implementation of the measures. This is the most important criteria for our challenge because long-lasting positive effects on people’s standard of living and future perspectives can only be achieved if the improvement measures respect the social foundations of the community and the needs of the beneficiaries of the project. By creating better living conditions, involving the beneficiaries, we want to inspire people to take charge of their own future.
