The problem we are trying to solve

In the world, 863 Million people live in slums and according to UNICEF, this number will grow to 2 billion until 2030. This is a worrying phenomenon that must not be neglected. Inhabitants of slums are living in bad hygiene conditions, and suffering from a lack of basic infrastructure including access to clean water, proper housing and sanitary facilities. They are exposed to diseases, particularly children and babies, and have to live in an insecure environment. In such a difficult environment, people lack perspectives for their future and cannot embrace the opportunities that they find.

Why does this problem exist?

The problem of an increasing part of the world’s population living in slums stems from the rapid rate of urbanization that is taking place due to globalization. People leave the rural areas to go to the cities to find work there in the hope for a better life. However, once arrived there, they find that they lack the financial resources to afford the expensive life in the city and are forced to live in slums.
